Lost My Wayby *Tatchit

As the black boiling clouds galloped like a herd of angry mustang, a shy glimmer of light broke free between the quieting rage. The glow sent brilliant shafts of golden beaming towards the plains below. The storm had been furious for hours, hailing cold shards of water, forcing a halt to his relentless journey. For a moment, he stopped and found himself gazing across the horizon. The land coward beneath the sky, huddled itself in the shadow that slowly receded. Flat, barren land charged ahead tirelessly, colossal mountains peaked with snow caps to the east, and if one had a good eye, a calm sea that reflected the shimmer of skylight. A small flock of raven circled about, they followed him without gesture, and wouldn't move on until he continued. The land was foreign. None of this he knew...he had lost his way.

This is another pose for Serenity I did of Kurai (as the forum is down, and can't get to my messages for commissions x.x ), but I had decided to add a background for practice. Also, I have a tendency to stay away from monotone colors while using color. Instead, I use a variety of pastels from across the color wheel-Kurai probably has just about every color pastel I could grab (even though you may not be able to pick them out.) Greens, blues, purples, yellows, reds, oranges, browns...I use them all. Unless doing b/w art, I try to practice using a variety. Gradients, I love them...there is a slight gradient here-from the bright chalky yellow/white to the dark, muddy purple. (notice these two colors are complimentary)

I have been neglecting his thick collar and eclipse he wears, which I shouldn't, but I loved the fur on his neck too much to cover it. :c

A fun piece, and expect to see this pose around Serenity sometime. (:
