So lovely ;-;
I love this so much! I love the way you shade and how you have a good understanding of what feathers and fur look like! Love your work!
Where do you get your inspiration?
For these guys? Birds! Especially fancy chickens, pigeons and birds of paradise, all the feathered things. I also like canines and elongated features so mashed them into a stew of critters and boop, Feonixes. :') I also appreciate the Baroque artistic style with dramatic lighting and detail...although I don't have that feature down it's still a huge motivation/inspiration. I also really enjoy concept art and hope to gain skill level that high one day. I also enjoy movie soundtracks, rock, alternative, experimental, a little bit of everything. Here are some fantastic visual artists I enjoy:
Barque style (hopefully this link works): www.google.com/search?q=baroqu…

Tobias Kwan: tobiee.deviantart.com/
Alex Negrea: alexnegrea.deviantart.com/
Yoann Lossel: yoann-lossel.deviantart.com/
Jennadalle (recently found her work, a mix of dramatic lighting and scene feel, never seen work quite like theirs)
and so many more, my faves pretty much sum up the huge pool of artists on DA I think are mad rad. It keeps growing as I find new artists.
omg. So cute.
You are the best artist that ive seen on deviantart
The fur is so amazing! This is such an awesome character...
Damn, those colors are so pretty. And look at all those feathers!
Tatchit, I hope you don't mind but I was wondering.. How long did it take for you to develop the style that you have?
*Your told a lot but I just wanted to throw out there, You're a fantastic artist.*
I really envy your coloring and shading skills but I feel like saying something about your anatomy. In this piece, left hind leg is way too small and thin and in a weird angle which makes it look like that joints are in different locations if compared to the right hind leg. Also there is a slight difference where the shoulders and wrists are, that's not actually bothering me but the right front leg is more wide than the left one. I made some redlining - I hope this is not bothering you - so you could see better what I'm talking about. sta.sh/0dj6v1kjppv
sta.sh/01neh024tzoe includes perspective grid for the front legs, this is the edited/fixed version and the shoulder was too high and furthest rear leg too thin. Now the pose for the leg itself was not all wrong, but I did change the position so it sits behind the tail in that it doesn't look like a mad tangent running into the rear leg nearest to us. Shoving both rear legs in that small area made it look awfully cramped, like it was trying to do some silly step dance. I can position it differently which seemed to help. Again, thanks for the critique, looks much better. (:
I'm glad you actually take critique into consideration to see if it's worth it and not just flame baiting it!
Too bad there aren't more people like you on dA, haha
The pose looks much better on that, the left hind leg has a natural position.
I'd make it slightly bigger though, but maybe it's just in my eyes. If you're happy about the result
then it's fine! c:
Thanks, I'm glad it looks better. I take critique for a grain of salt, it gives me a different perspective on things. You were polite and gave me a redline right off which seriously helps seeing the funky stuff I did. Sometimes I don't see silly mistakes I made until someone points it out. You know how you take a test...let's say math because math does not give much leeway. You feel great about your test, so great you think you got an A. Well, you get it back and you made a B and realize going through the corrections your professor made of all those silly mistakes you missed-even if you checked your work. I guess the way I think about art is a lot like that. Sometimes another person's views and pointers are the difference between that B work and A work. C: People who don't at least consider critique are throwing away valuable advice. Of course I'm not saying every bit of every critique should be followed like a set of rules, but at least looked at. If you hadn't said anything, I would have never of caught the mistakes I made (the shoulder one actually gave me an itch haha!)
